Kelvedon Low Level

The Kelvedon and Tollesbury line in Essex was very lightly built and basic, such that there was little infrastructure left to survive after closure to passengers in 1951 and complete closure in 1962. This is the view of what remained at the Kelvedon Low Level terminus in March 1977. To the left was the steep descending connection from the GE main line, seen heading north east towards Colchester. The branch itself curved round to the right in the distance to cross the former A12. In the left foreground are the railings of the walkway to the upper station.
