Goathland

The twin railway bridges that cross the unclassified road over the North Yorkshire Moors, in the remote countryside between the A169 and the village of Goathland, photographed looking west on 20 April 2009. The nearest of the two bridges carries the current NYMR south from Goathland towards Levisham, while the bridge in the distance is on the original 1836 alignment, much beloved of horse-power and cable haulage, prior to its closure in 1865 in favour of the easier route.
