Carlisle

Deltic D9019, as yet unnamed, photographed passing through Carlisle on Saturday 25 April 1964. The locomotive is in charge of the late running 1A35 1000 Edinburgh - Kings Cross Flying Scotsman which has travelled via the Waverley route following a derailment on the ECML near Belford. The Deltic is sporting the Winged Thistle headboard introduced on these services earlier that year. [With thanks to Paul Bettany for additional information]
