Kirkcaldy

A class 158 forms a 5 coach train with a Class 170 on a Sunday service to Dundee, seen at Kirkcaldy on 22 February. This mixed-stock configuration is quite common on trains from Edinburgh up the East Coast (more common that 2 x 170s) and is the usual arrangement for the two sets needed for the Edinburgh to Dundee stopping services on Sunday. The building on the left houses the newly commissioned lift to street level and booking office and was many months in construction. The building on the Down platform (right) dates from 1962 and is in the boxy style later used in the Glasgow suburban station rebuilding.
