Swindon

Locomotives 31234 and 47079 (formerly D1664) G J Churchward stand at the Swindon stabling point in March 1983. The class 47 had carried the name George Jackson Churchward until approximately 4 years previously (see image 3236) but, for some reason (anyone know why?) by 1980 the full name of the former CME of the Great Western Railway had been reduced to initials by BR. No 47079 was subsequently rebuilt as 57029 and became part of the DRS fleet from December 2007.
