Dereham

Although the line between King's Lynn and Dereham closed on September 9th 1968, freight activity continued on short sections at either end. This is the Dereham end on September 27th 1983, where 31 220 is collecting UKF fertiliser wagons from the remaining stub of the line. In the right foreground is the former road into platform 4 at Dereham station provided for the King's Lynn service. Along with various other redundant sidings around the station, it was being lifted that day. Other freight facilities were withdrawn two months later, but this fertiliser traffic lasted until the very end of BR use of the line in June 1989.
