Westoe
With the North Sea breaking gently on the shoreline in the background, NCB No 9 (German built AEG 1565 of 1913) stands with a train in the yards of Westoe Colliery, South Shields in 1983. Westoe was the last of the Tyneside pits to close 10 years later and No 9 is now in preservation on the Tanfield Railway.
