Driffield

The crossing barriers are raised at Driffield on 1 October as a Scarborough train boards at the platform. [I happen to know a young Peter Todd spent many happy hours at this very spot between the late 50s and mid 60s watching a myriad of Summer Seaside Specials hurry by to destinations such as Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. The highlight he recalls would have been Gresley A3 Pacific 60038 Firdaussi rushing through and the lowlight probably an Austerity 2-8-0 clanking by on an excursion from Leeds.]
