Chinley

At one time a key location on the Midland Railway Manchester - Sheffield - St Pancras routes, Chinley station once boasted 5 through platforms and a bay. The current station, now an island platform, opened in 1902 due west of the original, is seen here looking towards New Mills. A class 60 locomotive waits with a ballast train on 27 January while a PW trolley is being loaded on the up line.
