NRM Shildon

One of the original Great Northern Railway J13s of 1899 that subsequently became BR class J52 no 68846 under nationalisation. Noted for being a regular station pilot at Kings Cross, 68846 became the first locomotive to be purchased for private preservation from British Railways. The locomotive was eventually donated to the National Railway Museum collection in 1980 and is seen here at Shildon on 4 November 2007.
