Haymarket

The recently published Haymarket redevelopment plan, aimed at accommodating the new tram interchange, included the proposed demolition of station local Ryries (1862). The hostelry was photographed on 6 September 2007 during an enjoyable visit for research purposes. Haymarket station stands beyond, with The Caledonian Alehouse on the far right. This latter watering hole, also dating from the 1860s and formerly known as the Haymarket Station Bar, is also under threat as part of the redevelopment proposal.
