South Leith Junction

A class 322 EMU from North Berwick bound for Waverley speeds through Portobello on the ECML in March 2007, just as an EWS class 66 hauling imported Russian coal climbs the gradient from the South Leith branch up towards the main line. Trains from Leith on the old Lothian Lines route to Niddrie North would veer left here to skirt Portobello Yard on a path now followed by the main road. (For a map see image 1404).
