About me

William Arthur Cam Camwell was a personal friend of mine. His photographs appear in many railway books and he particularly specialised in out of the way branch lines and also tramways from the 1930^s onwards. In 1972 he and I visited the Rawtenstall branch, my local railway, shortly before its closure and he gave me several photographs of that line and also the nearby Holcombe Brook branch that I am pleased to share with visitors to the Railbrit site. Many thanks to John McIntyre who has digitised the prints and negatives in my possession. Since publishing Cam^s photographs of the Holcombe Brook line I have received some additional early pictures courtesy of the Bury Historical Society and have added these to the photos of that interesting little line.
