Wemyss and District Tramways Company

Introduction

This privately owned electric street tramway served the Wemyss Estate and the Wemyss Coal Company. It was 3ft 6in gauge and 7.5 miles long. Trams from[Kirkcaldy Town Centre (on the adjoining Kirkcaldy Corporation Tramways) north east to East Wemyss, Buckhaven, Denbeath, Methil, Levenmouth and Leven. Electrical power was from Denbeath, a power station built for the Wellesley Colliery. There were four trams to carry miners owned by the coal company which were operated by the tramway.
