![The old station at Parkend in the Forest of Dean, seen here in May 1986. The station lost its scheduled passenger services in July 1929 and the last freight ran in 1975 [see image 26111]. ![Drybrook Road station was in the middle of the forest where the Mineral Loop joined the Severn and Wye Main Line. It was two miles from Drybook and not even on a metalled road! The station closed to passengers in 1929. This sign, photographed in June 2002, was erected when the trackbed was made into a cycle path.<br>

![The line of trees behind the farm building is the track of the Severn and Wye climbing from Lydbrook Junction towards the Forest of Dean. The Lydbook valley is to the right of the picture. Under the trees are piles of large dressed stones - the remains of Lydbrook Viaduct. The farm was sold shortly after this picture was taken in 2004 and there is now a large house on the site. The land is still accessible from a public path from the valley road. ![Two stations for the price of one. This is the approach to Norchard Low Level, at the headquarters of the Dean Forest Railway. ![The Speech House (about a mile to the right of this picture) was a seat of local government, where Free Foresters made speeches to present their opinions to their administrators. You would struggle to get there by train after 1929, when all passenger services North of Lydney were withdrawn, although freight services survived here until 1963.
