![View south, in 1988, of the junction where the sidings for Pressed Steel left the Paisley and Barrhead District Railway. A loop was retained on the 'main line' at the junction which meant a stub beyond the point of divergence was retained. This had been the junction for the Inkerman Brick Works and before even that this area was served by the G&SWR's Linwood branch on a different alignment. The factory was taken over in the 1960s and expanded by Rootes becoming the car factory's North Plant. The photograph was taken at the time of demolition of the North Plant. The location is now St. Andrews High School in Paisley. ![The office/shop once used by coal merchant John Lyon in Glasgow Road, Paisley, (just round the corner from the former Paisley East yard) photographed in December 2008 complete with classical Lion <I>couchant</I> (one of a pair) still in place above the shop front. The second member of the pair [see image 21161], stood in the John Lyon coal yard alongside Hawkhead station, some 44 years earlier.<br>

![Not easy to photograph in the summer! Other than the short length of viaduct in Barrhead itself, the Aurs Burn Viaduct is probably the most substantial reminder of the former line. It is a large viaduct which carried a twin track over its six arches. A short life, and barely used, it opened to traffic in 1903 which ceased the 1940s.<br><br>[Ewan Crawford 28/09/2017]](/images/61000/61121.jpg "Aurs Burn Viaduct")
