![Ex-GWR Castle class locomotive no 5047 <I>Earl of Dartmouth</I> with the 8.50am Birkenhead - Paddington train at a rain-soaked Wolverhampton Low Level station on 15 August 1962. The 4-6-0 was withdrawn from Wolverhampton's Stafford Road shed the following month. Wolverhampton Low Level itself closed to passengers in 1972 but saw subsequent use as a parcels depot [see image 19662] and latterly as the BR Divisional Engineer's offices. The listed main station building still stands and is currently part of a planned mixed retail and residential development which would incorporate the former station site. <br>

![<I>Hymek</I> D7097 leaves Evesham on a Hereford to Paddington working on a summer evening in 1972. I had just travelled from Worcester behind the locomotive to the limit of the West Midlands Ranger ticket area. At the time I rightly surmised that it would be my last run behind a <I>Hymek</I> on the main line, and had no idea that I would later be able to ride behind sister loco D7076 on the East Lancashire Railway. ![Parry People Mover 139001 waits for connecting passengers at Stourbridge Junction. Behind the unit one of the smaller traction depots on the mainline network can be seen. SJ has an allocation of just two Class 139 PPMs. The station itself was once in poor condition but is now well maintained. ![After a long period of semi-dereliction the listed, blue brick Great Western Low Level station at Wolverhampton is under restoration for retail, hotel and residential use. ![Conventional (but soon to be replaced) stock at Stourbridge Junction as 3-car Sprinter 150015 calls on a London Midland service to Dorridge via Snow Hill. The 'Parry People Mover' shuttle to the Town station leaves from the opposite side of this island platform. ![The Parry People Mover Class 139 arrives at Stourbridge Junction passing over the now little used connection to the main line as seen from the end of the platform. In 2010, whilst operating 6 return trips per hour, the two PPMs achieved 99.4% reliability while the flywheel technology means they also used very little fuel. ![Evesham station looking east on a dull 21 September 2011. The track has been redoubled to both Worcester in the west and Moreton-in-Marsh to the east. The station is in excellent condition and the up platform waiting room has a considerable collection of railway photos from the 50s and 60s of various locations in the area. Well worth a visit.<br>

The £30m mixed use scheme for the 9 acre Canal Quarter site proposed in 2005 envisaged a restored section of the former Grade II listed 1854 station as a centre piece using refurbished platforms as patio areas for various restaurants, cafes, pubs etc alongside new hotel and residential accomodation. ![London Midland unit 172340 operates the 17.58 service to Worcester Shrub Hill at Kidderminster on 22nd September 2012. More pasengers than usual due to the Severn Valley Railway Steam Gala next door. ![This siding into Worcester's Metal Box works was the last industrial siding in Worcestershire when it closed earlier this year. Sadly, the factory will soon shut down altogether. A class 66 used to visit here on weekdays, leaving at about 7am. Half a mile beyond the building a single line to Honeybourne remains in use to serve the extensive former Army Depot now used to store rolling stock [see image 46703]. The station closed in 1966 but is remembered in a poem by Edward Thomas when a train he was on stopped at the station in June 1914. ![70013 <I>Oliver Cromwell</I> stopped in Moreton on Marsh Station on 10th February 2018, whilst travelling over the Oxford to Worcester Line. The train was here for twenty minutes, so we all got a good view of the loco. I understand it might be coming out of service soon for an overhaul.<br>
