![Former coal drops on the south side of the Esk Valley line to Whitby, near Egton Station which is actually located at Egton Bridge some 1.5Km from Egton village. This is not only the end of the token section from Nunthorpe and the start of the token section to Glaisdale, it is also where the train changes direction. ![The Esk Valley line to Whitby crosses the River Esk and the local road to Lealholm in rapid succession a short distance after leaving Danby Station heading east. This view looking south shows the substantial steel bridge running across the upper reaches of the River Esk, with the road bridge some 25m to the left. The view looking south shows the second bridge, the road bridge, which, for a rural location, has a motorway headroom of 16 feet. The section of the bridge on the far side has a higher still headroom, having been rebuilt in the recent past.
