![The former Dunstable-Hatfield branch of the GNR was squeezed tightly between the Midland Main Line and the A6129 just South of the A505 alongside Luton Airport. ![The recently opened 'Luton to Harpenden cyclepath' starts just South of the A505 next to Luton Airport. As seen in this picture, the path plays fast and loose with the original formation and gradient profile. ![Looking East across the A5 road from the car park of the council offices which are built over the site of Dunstable North station on the line from Leighton Buzzard to Luton, a rolled stone surface at an easy grade can be seen to the right. This extension of the Sewell Greenway [see image 43001] links up to the guided busway to Luton, which opened in September 2013. There was a headshunt from the cement works at ground level to the left of this embankment; a few long wooden sleepers remain as evidence.<br><br>[Ken Strachan 03/05/2013]](/images/43000/43024.jpg "Dunstable")

![The former Luton Hoo station, on the GNR line from Luton to Welwyn, is now a well-kept family home. The cyclepath on its far side has an excellent tarmac surface. ![Another trackbed lost. This view looks down the soon-to-be-opened Guided Busway from Dunstable towards Luton on 9 August 2013. ![As the Great Northern trackbed curves away from the Midland line [see image 44268], this neat modern bridge keeps cyclists and pedestrians away from the fast and frequent road traffic below. ![Approaching Luton station on the guided busway, some gradients far too steep for trains are apparent. There is, however, a nice tarmac cycle path on the right. The battleship-camouflaged building left of centre is the recently built multi-storey car park on the High Town side of Luton station; a brick railway viaduct has been demolished in front of the brickbuilt office block just visible on the left - hence the gradient.<br><br>[Ken Strachan 28/03/2014]](/images/47000/47036.jpg "Luton")

![Wheathampstead - Saturday. A short length of platform and a 5-plank wagon on a piece of rail. This has been set up by the local community to remember when the station was open before Beeching.
