![The miniature railway operated by the LMMES is a hidden gem tucked away in the North Lancashire countryside between Carnforth and Milnthorpe. It operates on Sundays (and BH Mondays) between Easter and September but isn't widely advertised. ![<I>Battery or Steam power?</I> Discussion on the relevant motive power merits at the Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway during a private evening visit in June 2017. The resident Bo-Bo BE, loosely resembling a Class 58, has 3x8v batteries and a 1hp motor on each axle so has real pulling power. ![The really neat three road carriage shed at the Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway on 14th June 2017. Alongside the society clubhouse a further track at elevated level runs towards the traverser and loading area. Many of the <I>miniature</I> locos weigh upwards of half a ton so there is no manual handling and they are railed into road vehicles for transport to and from the site.
