Knockando Timber Extraction Railway

Introduction

A Great War timber extraction railway ran south west from the Strathspey Railway at Knockando Distillery, crossing over the River Spey to reach Phones Wood. It was in operation from roughly 1917 to 1919.

These locations are along the line.

This distillery was founded in 1898. It was close to Gilbey's Cottage Halt which served the worker cottages built by Gilbey for the Knockando Distillery.
