![Standard class 4 2-6-0 No 76114 of Corkerhill shed leaving Braehead power station sidings and approaching Deanside with coal empties in 1966. Taken from the old Renfrew - Glasgow road which was cut when the KGV dock opened (Deanside station is behind the camera). The last of its class, 76114 was the last steam locomotive built at Doncaster works, having been completed there on 16 October 1957. <br><br>[Colin Miller //1966]](/images/20000/20469.jpg "Deanside")

![The King George the 5th Dock was served by a branch of the Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway with a marshalling yard at Shieldhall. The yard and lines to the dock and Shieldhall were closed and lifted in early 1987 although the line running to Deanside Transit was retained. The rails in the cobbles here are laid out in typical Glasgow docks fashion with a rail on either side for the overhead crane and two tracks up the middle. This dock has had a major revival such that usually several ships arrive and depart every day now. ![Once the entrance to Deanside station, the gates that formerly gave access to the steps down to the island platform from alongside the A8 are now fastened together with fishplates, seen here in July 2009. As short-lived passenger stations go Deanside must come near the top of the league, having been opened by the Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway on 1 June 1903, it was closed on 2 January 1905 after a period of 582 days [see image 9092]. <br>
