Following a re-alignment of the A721 the land became vacant which re-opened up this view of the site. The distant Securicor Omega depot (now a Yodel depot) is by the site of the junction, just north of the station, for Hattonrig Colliery. ![Looking south at Whifflet over the site of the former works lines. Tennents had a works here, latterly run by Sheffield Forgemasters. Sadly this has closed and been demolished (anyone know the dates?) and the internal works sidings here lifted. Formerly this trackbed was the north part of the GBHCR line from Hamilton to Whifflet where it met the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway. ![No trace remains of this station now, but the footbridge steps on the down platform would have started somewhere just above the more solid part of the white fencing on the left of the picture. On the other side of the fencing is the deep cutting made during the construction of the M74 which obliterated most of the station site, the excavation made for the motor dealer's yard accounting for the rest. ![The railway viaduct just south east of Calderpark Halt once loomed high over both the North Calder Water and the still extant road bridge in the photograph. The long demolished viaduct crossed the river at an angle and continued above the left abutment of the road bridge seen here.
