![The former station at Granton Gasworks, photographed on 16 August 2006. Built by the Edinburgh & Leith Gas Commissioners in 1902 for the use of headquarters staff and still displaying the appropriate corporate seals on the front of the building. What is now an arched window in the centre of the upper floor originally provided access to an integral footbridge which crossed various lines and sidings to reach the works. The line ran alongside the wall through what was originally an open structure (now bricked up at both ends), with the platform connected by an internal stairway to the upper level. From there a footbridge spanned the sidings to access the works and offices off to the left. The new Scottish Gas HQ stands in the background beyond the station. ![The former Granton Gasworks station in 2006, looking north along the staff platform. The arrival line ran straight through what was originally an open structure (the white wall with the 2 windows is a later addition) with staff able to access trains within the building. An internal stairway linked the platform to the station's upper level, from which a footbridge spanned the goods lines and yard leading to the extensive works area and offices that were once located off to the left. ![Morning winter sunshine catches this fine Edwardian building on 17 January 2015. Try and imagine hordes of men with bunnets (flat caps) and moustaches pouring out of workmen's trains towards the huge gasworks to the left. The tram competiton stopped a mile short at Granton Square. This part of Edinburgh has been transformed in recent years by the ongoing Waterfront project, but this building and one preserved gasometer survive. ![Gasworks station from the north in March 2015. That lamppost will not have been lit in decades. I don't know what that platform was used for. Passenger trains used the other platform with trains passing through the building though that's no longer obvious since the arches were bricked up.<br>
