Muircockhall Colliery

A view looking south west showing the cutting where the line to Muircockhall came off the West of Fife Mineral Railway. The route through to Kelty was cut back to here in the 1950s after the last of Kingseat Colliery, Kingseat (Dean) Colliery, closed in 1945. The Muircockhall branch closed in 1962. It was about 3/4 of a mile long and turned through nearly 180 degrees on approach to the colliery. The colliery had closed in 1944 but survived as a mining training school until 1969.
