Way down south (South West!)

A variety of photographs from south of the border. Some of the L&SWR Meon Valley Line and some of the Watercress Line. The Alton, Alresford and Winchester Railway Company later became the original Mid Hants Railway. The line in 1865 starting from Alton where it connected with the London and South Western Railway line to Guildford. The other end of the line connected with the LSWR main route from London to Southampton, at Winchester Junction, north of Winchester City Station.
