This is the main station in Edinburgh and acts as both a terminus and through station. The larger part of the station is covered by a large glazed roof by Blyth and Cunningham and is an island platform with bays at either end. There is a smaller island platform outwith the main roof on the south side.

This is a five platform station in the west of Edinburgh where the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway and Caledonian Railway divide. An 1842 Georgian building, by John Miller, dating from the opening as a terminus now fronts a station which is a train, tram and bus interchange.

This is a two platform station. There is no car park. A station house remains next to the west end of the station and level crossing, in use as a house. The line runs parallel to the Union Canal here (it is just to the north) and the railway passes over the canal just to the east.

Breich is a two platform station on the former Caledonian Railway's Edinburgh and Glasgow line via Bellshill, Shotts and Kirknewton. The station formerly had a building, typical of the line, on the westbound platform. The station has relatively low platforms and an old footbridge. It is a very quiet station - often, in statistics, shown to have the fewest passengers in Scotland.

This is a two platform station. The red sandstone station building on the Glasgow bound platform remains standing. The goods yard was on the other side of Glasgow Road, north of the line and approached from the east. The original station, Uddingston [1st], was on this side of the road. Just to the east is Uddingston Junction.
