This was the works of Murray & Paterson, who relocated here in 1900. The origins of the company were in steam engines but it also later listed colliery plant (eg winding engines for the Cardowan Colliery) , steel works plant (rolling mills eg Victoria Iron and Steel Works, iron works plant, general engineers.
