Balgray: Network Rail has appointed Story Contracting Ltd to design a new railway station on the Neilston line in the area south of Barrhead. The station will be located off Balgraystone Road, between Patterton and Neilston stations. Plans for the site include car parking as well as bus and active travel routes. The name of the proposed new station will be Balgray, as it will be located next to Balgray Reservoir. The name is an old Scottish place name meaning either Bal (settlement) or Balg (bulge or bag shaped body of water).

Arkleston Junction: A wet afternoon at Arkleston Junction on 22 May 1966 as Metro Cammell unit SC51470 picks its way cautiously through the revised layout and on to the up (no longer fast or slow) line while en route to Glasgow Central. Some final tuning of the lines would appear to be necessary.

Arkleston Junction: 15 May 1966 and Arkleston Junction is looking like a model railway layout, with lots of rails lying about and existing ones waiting to be joined up with new ones. The view is towards Paisley. Behind the camera the quadruple lines have been replaced by double ones.

Arkleston Junction: 1 May 1966 and changes are afoot at Arkleston Junction. In this view, looking west towards the landmarks of Paisley, the down slow line has been lifted and a crane is occupying the up fast line. These manoeuvres were part of the conversion from quadruple to double running east of the junction.

Reconstruction of Arkleston Junction is under way on 1 May 1966, with the removal of the down slow line. Clayton D8539 is standing on the down fast line in the midst of all the activity. View is westbound towards Paisley Gilmour Street.

Balado: View west from Balado station showing the timber platform and looking to the level crossing in 1996. A signal pulley can be seen on the right, closer than the level crossing gatepost. Since the photograph was taken a house was built on the other side of the road to the left of the trackbed and, more recently, another on the site of the station itself.

Brookwood: Brookwood, Surrey, down platform, where sadly the waiting room is obsolete and boarded-up, on 9th July 2023. The line here was opened by the London & Southampton Railway in 1838 but this station only opened on 1st June 1864 and was reconstructed in 1903 when the line was quadrupled between Woking and Pirbright Junction where the Alton line diverges. A branch line from here once ran south into Brookwood cemetery and another north to the National Rifle Association's HQ at Bisley Camp; both are now long closed.

Guide Bridge: On a wet and miserable 12/04/1969 E26056 Triton arrives at Guide Bridge with a Manchester - Sheffield via Woodhaed working. Passenger services over this route were withdrawn on 05/01/1970 although the line remained in use for freight and diverted passenger workings when required until 20/07/1981.

Kirkby: 777142 calls at Kirkby with a Merseyrail service from Headbolt Lane to Liverpool Central, 7.5 miles away, on 18th October 2023. The train has run on battery power for the first 0.8 miles and will pick up the third rail half way along this platform. Kirkby was a terminus for Merseyrail trains from April 1977 to October 2023 but although it is now a through station again it has not yet gained a second platform and track.
