Fieldway [Tram]: Fieldway tram stop, serving a residential area of New Addington, seen from tram no. 2543 to West Croydon arriving at its second calling point, at 14.41 on Tuesday, 17th October 2023.
Balado: A gradient profile which survives west of the site of Balado station. The view looks north showing 97 for the climb west towards Tullibole Crossing and 460 going east over the Gelly Burn to the station.
Coltbridge Junction: The railway remains at Coltbridge Junction in the early 1970s. Behind me is the viaduct which crossed the E&G west of Haymarket station and carried the railway for Leith North. The connection to the left headed to Dalry Middle Junction and on to Prices Street and straight ahead the line joined what is now the Duff Street connection (just beyond the remains of the viaduct) at Granton Junction. The high level line was from Haymarket West to Dalry Middle and is now part of the Western Approach Road.
Scorton [Lancashire] [1st]: The autumn colours are almost gone as 66716 passes Scorton with the Hams Hall to Mossend intermodal on 20th November 2023. The two boxes behind the locomotive were the only ones on a long train of otherwise empty container flats.
Port Glasgow: A westbound Derby DMU calling at Port Glasgow. The photograph is thought to date from around 1966-1967, when electrification of the line was under way.
Scorton [Lancashire] [1st]: Running twenty minutes early (or I would have been closer to the line) 37610, in a new Rail Operations Group livery, takes Northern 331104 from Broughton Sidings at Skipton to Allerton Depot for maintenance or repairs. These occasional workings route via the Bentham line, WCML to Earlestown and then a reversal at Edge Hill.
Girvan: Where to park the 156s isolated south of Ayr due to the fire in the hotel. This was the scene at Girvan on 17th November 2023. The replacement bus for Stranraer left on time at 12.01.
Loughborough Central: GCR 'Last Hurrah' Gala 2023. We arrived in time to catch the 09.45 to Leicester North; but the NER 'Electric Autocar' No.3170 was full and standing so we had to catch it later. The gent on the right has the satisfied air of a man who has just redlined the last member of its class; presumably he is not bothered by the electric drive having been replaced by a modern diesel engine.
Knaresborough: 170472 leaves Knaresborough heading for Harrogate and Leeds on 11th October 2023. Seconds later the semaphore clanged back to danger allowing the signalman to release the locks on the pedestrian crossing gates.
Hillhead [Subway]: An Inner Circle service draws away from Hillhead on 4 November 2023.
Barry Docks: Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Pacific 34070 'Manton' seen during its interregnum in Woodhams scrap yard at Barry in August 1966. It is now a mainstay of the Southern Locomotives fleet of Bulleid Pacifics, and mainly operating on the Swanage Railway. It spent time at Richborough Power Station, the Great Central Railway, and at Sellinge in Kent during its initial restoration phase. For a view of this same loco 49 years later in preserved condition see image [[51391]]
Leadburn: Approaching the long abandoned island platform at Leadburn on 5 August 2009 following a shower of rain. Vies is south west towards the former junction.
Balado: View northwards of a minor level crossing west of Balado. Gateposts remain, along with one of the crossing gates.
Oban: A view of the signal box at Oban during the lovely summer of 1976
Glasgow Central: 86012 at Glasgow Central on 24 June 1989.
