Niddrie West Junction: Scene at Niddrie West Junction on 31 May 2018 following a major subsidence problem linked to old mine workings in the area. View is west towards the junction from the footbridge, with the main works taking place behind the camera (see image [[64285]]). Notice all three lines are closed at this stage. The last of the work at the site had been completed by mid July, including the installation of trackbed monitoring equipment to aid detection of any future movement (see image [[65968]]).
Clapham Junction: 378203 with a London Overground service to Stratford via Kensington (Olympia), Gospel Oak and Highbury & Islington waiting to depart at 17.04 from Clapham Junction, on the evening of Saturday, 13th November 2021. This massive interchange station between the lines to and from Victoria and Waterloo has been known as Clapham Junction since its opening in 1863 but that is a misnomer since it is not in Clapham at all but in neighbouring Battersea.
Nuneaton Trent Valley: Just for Beth Crawford: this RHTT leaf train from Kings Norton to Kings Norton was hauled by 66795 with 66704 trailing (you have to believe me here). I was waiting to pick up my wife from a shopping trip, and I'm sure it was light when she started.
Achnasheen: A westbound train to Kyle of Lochalsh arrives at Achnasheen as the signalman collects the single line token in April 1979.
Achnasheen: Entering Achnasheen on 15 June 1991, from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra charter train from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh with a performance at the destination.
Beattock Summit: I'm not in the habit of chasing trains but 66050, slowly climbing Beattock with a heavy load of ballast wagons, was too good an opportunity to miss. Having captured it near Harthope, here it is again nearing the summit cutting working from Carlisle to Millerhill on 15th September 2021.
Clifton-on-Trent: This GC trackbed between High Marnham and Lincoln has been a popular cyclepath for some years now. Fortunately, bridges such as this one at Skellingthorpe near Clifton-on-Trent have been made accessible for pedestrians and cyclists (active travel) despite needing considerable reinforcement. Highways England please note.
Barkston: A Class 91 on the rear of a southbound ECML service passes the site of Barkston station (closed to passengers 1955 and goods in 1964) but there is no trace of it today.
Edinburgh Waverley: Locomotives on sleeper duty awaiting their next turns in the bays at the east end of Waverley. Photographed looking out from below the station canopy during a short, sharp shower of rain on a December afternoon in 2007. On the left is EWS 90034, with sister locomotive 90036 alongside still carrying BR Railfreight 3-tone grey livery.
