Llangollen and Corwen Railway

Llynvi Valley Railway


A buffer stop sits amidst an almost impenetrable forest which has taken over the two disconnected sidings behind the old northbound platform on the Margam line at Tondu in January 2012. [See Image 18266] [David Pesterfield]

Mawddwy Railway


The old goods shed at Dinas Mawddyy, which survived for a long time as a workshop after the 1951 freight closure, has been demolished and a single storey replacement stands on the same spot. The old water crane is still in place however. [See image 38665] for the same view in 1981. [Mark Bartlett]

Mid Wales Railway


Since being photographed at Erwood in September 2009 [see image 26229], Fowler 0-4-0 diesel number 169 has now been repainted. The locomotive was one of 120 originally bought to move munitions during WW2 and finished its working career at RAF St Athan, in the Vale of Glamorgan. [Ken Strachan]
