King's Lynn

43046 with 43049 heading away from King's Lynn along the remains of the line to Dereham via Swaffham that closed to passengers in September 1968, even though it was NOT listed in the Beeching Report. Only this short section to Middleton Towers remains open for sand traffic. The train is passing the point where the much-lamented Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway, closed in 1959, once passed overhead and whose disused embankment and bridge abutments remains are still visible. This view is on 28th March 2015; earlier in the day this UK Railtours excursion from London St. Pancras had visited the Nene Valley Railway.
