St Boswells

Does my abutment look big in this? Surviving railway infrastructure at the point where St Boswells station once straddled the B6398, seen here looking west on 13 August 2013. This is the village of Newtown St Boswells, located between St Boswells itself and Melrose. Newtown St Boswells is the administrative centre of Scottish Borders Council (the tower in the background is part of the Council HQ). The station was opened by the NB in 1849 as Newtown Junction, changed to New Town St Boswells in 1863 and settled on plain St Boswells in 1865. It was closed along with the Waverley Route in January 1969.
