Quedlinburg

HSB 99 6001 about to take the 10:30 train from Quedlinburg to Alexisbad on 19 September 2017. Built by the Krupp Corporation of Essen in 1939, it was the prototype of a class of locomotives for the Nordhausen-Wernigerode-Eisenbahn. However, the outbreak of the Second World War meant that it was the only one built. After serving on the Nordhausen-Wernigerode line it was displaced to the Selketal line by the arrival of the New Steam Engines in the 1950s.
