Barton-le-Street

View south to the greatly altered former Barton-Le-Street Station House that stood by the level crossing across Butterwick Road, north of the village proper. The trackbed on the Hovingham side of the road is totally obliterated having been ploughed out. From old maps, it would appear that the wing coming towards the camera has been built across the platform and trackbed. To the east there were long sidings along either side of the running line, one that served the goods yard and goods shed beyond and behind the station on the south side of the line, and another on the north side that ended by the roadside to the left of view.
