Riccarton and Craigie

Riccarton & Craigie station entrance and bridge abutments (station had an island platform), looking southwest from across Campbell Street in Riccarton, Kilmarnock, 20 October, 1985. Although this station was completely erected, including buildings, it never opened to regular passenger services, if at all. The twin bridges had been removed in the early 1970s (or thereabouts), and the rest of the railway relics were about to be demolished in the name of progress; the A71 bypass was about to be built on the trackbed through here.
