Barnoldswick

The first outing in preservation of no 3442 The Great Marquess took place on 4 May 1963. The RCTS Dalesman railtour ran from Bradford Forster Square and visited a number of branches in Lancashire and Yorkshire. One such visit was along the former Barnoldswick Railway, a short branch off the line between Nelson and Skipton. The K4 is seen here running round the special at Barnoldswick terminus late on that Saturday afternoon in 1963. The well known crossbar signal is just by the coach, but turned through 90 degrees because the crossing gates are open. See image 88703.
