Newtongrange [1st]

Looking south towards Gorebridge on 22 May 2013 over the recently uncovered platforms of the former Newtongrange station (1908-1969). Station Road is on the left and the surviving headgear of the Lady Victoria pit can just be seen above the trees. The new Borders Railway station is being built on the other side of the bridge carrying the A7 in the background. The old platforms would disappear once more during the ensuing trackbed preparation works (see 53878).
