Hawick [2nd]
Boxing Day 1962 sees A3 Pacific no 60083 Sir Hugo arriving at Hawick in falling snow with the 1M88 10.15am Edinburgh Waverley - London St Pancras. A relief service had also left Edinburgh at 9.44am that morning behind another Pacific, A2 no 60522 Straight Deal see image 31375. The train is passing D178 stabled in the siding behind the up platform. The Gateshead 'Peak' had arrived on crew training duties and had been put there to relieve congestion on the shed.
