Kittling Hill Quary

Taken from the embankment of the old 3ft gauge railway from Kittling Hill whinstone quarry to Budle pier, Bamburgh. Trackbed in foreground, with the remains of Budle pier in the middle distance. A zig - zag existed between the embankment level and pier level to allow locomotives and trucks access. The zig - zag is now largely obscured by dunes and vegetation. Small coasting steamers would enter Budle bay to load stone at the pier. See image 40434
