Colchester

The HST (class 43) was originally powered by Paxman diesel engines made in Colchester, and the success and longevity of these trains has depended on the good quality of the Paxman design and engineering. The company's Colchester workforce was thanked with a special run of a HST set to Colchester North station on Saturday 7th April 1979. The train is seen being admired by workers and their families at 6.15 that morning, shortly before they all climbed aboard and were whisked away south for a day out.
