Royal Scot 4-6-0 no 46139 The Welch Regiment waits patiently on one of the centre roads at Carlisle station on the morning of 23 September 1961, having arrived light engine from Upperby shed. The locomotive will eventually take over the 10.15am Glasgow Central - Euston train.
