West Ruislip

West Ruislip station was rebuilt in the 1960s - and doesn't it show.
Photographed in November 1985 it still proudly carried the British
Railways totem device (as it was called), along with Underground
bullseye, on a mast above the station entrance.  It also still had totem era enamel run-in boards see image 20639 which were illuminated and of a size more appropriate to Crewe.  Even then that Ford Capri was on its way to becoming a period piece, being registered in 1972/3.  The 1980s Metro in front shows that the picture is not older, performing the function of those newspapers once held up by hostages in photographs.
