Because Besses was a late (1933) addition to the LMS network the embankment had to be widened to accommodate the island platform and a new bridge built for the displaced Up line. Metrolink tram 1020 runs over this bridge while on the left the older bridge for the original two plain tracks can be seen. View towards Whitefield and Bury.
