Furness Abbey

A train for Barrow in Furness from Manchester Airport, formed by 185147, passes the site of Furness Abbey station, closed in 1950, and enters the short tunnel. Furness Abbey itself, a red sandstone ancient monument, sits alongside the line here in a secluded valley and the grounds can just be seen to the right of the train.
