Carlisle

One of the ubiquitous (at that time) Brush Type 4 (subsequently class 47) mainline diesels about to leave Carlisle with a southbound service on 13 June 1968. A total of 512 of these highly successful and versatile locomotives appeared between 1962 and 1968 with production being split between BR Crewe works and the Brush Traction plant in Loughborough.
