1903  Rothesay Dock Branch (North British Railway and Caledonian Railway)
Following arbitration the line becomes joint.
1938  Callander and Oban Railway
Dunblane, Doune and Callander Railway
Callander and Oban Junction closed. The double track line to Callander Dreadnought becomes two single track lines with the former westbound line becoming access from Callander Dreadnought to Callander [1st] (goods) via the headshunt at the site of Callander and Oban Junction.
1946  West Highland Railway
Glen Falloch Platform opened. (Alternative date.)
1966  Midland Great Western Railway
Galway renamed Galway Ceannt to honour Éamonn Ceannt, one of the executed leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising.
1966  Waterford and Limerick Railway
Limerick renamed Limerick Colbert to commemoration Cornelius Colbert, one of the executed leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising.
1976  Belfast, Holywood and Bangor Railway
Belfast Queen's Quay closes with the re-opening of the Belfast Central Railway.

Related to Port Elphinstone.

Canal Basin

Port Elphinstone is named for the canal basin which was at the extreme end of the Aberdeenshire Canal from Aberdeen. The canal was closed to allow construction of the railway. The railway did not exactly follow the course of the former canal but criss-crossed over it many times between Port Elphinstone and Aberdeen.
