The remains of the bridge that carried the Border Counties Railway over the River Rede just under a quarter of a mile north west of Reedsmouth station. Photographed on 20 May looking west from the adjacent road bridge. This section of the Border Counties line closed in 1963. [Ref query 6399]

^Sub to Blaydon (52C)^ was how the old 2-road Border Counties locomotive shed at Reedsmouth was described at the time of its official closure in September 1952. The modifield building is seen here in use by the local farmer in 2007, with rails still in place. View is north with Reedsmouth station behind the camera.
