Built from old rails and sleepers, snow fences used to protect the railway lines from drifting snow. This is what remains of the snow fences south of Rannoch Station in May 2011.

Aftermath of a derailment photographed from a train crossing Rannoch Moor on 6 September 1961. The mishap had occurred several days earlier resulting in a large number of sleepers being torn up. The van had carried alumina.
